WHAT IS ISR?
ISR Self-Rescue instruction is the product of 50 years of research and development and achieves unparalleled results
Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) is the safest and most effective provider of survival swimming lessons worldwide, teaching ISR Self-Rescue skills to children ages 6 months to 6 years old. With 50 years of experience and the highest safety standards in the industry, ISR is able to deliver the best survival swimming instruction in the world today. The result? Over 8 million safe and effective lessons delivered, providing children with a foundation for safety and a lifetime of fun in and around the water.
Through our survival swim lesson program your child can learn critical survival skills and a foundation for lifelong enjoyment of the water. Lessons are always one-on-one and instruction will be tailored to your child’s skill and comfort level. We do not have “group” lessons, because we believe your child should have our undivided attention. We customize their lessons, especially for them, to ensure the safest, most efficient lessons. We want each child to experience success and use positive reinforcement to recognize each accomplishment, no matter how small. Students attend 10-minute lessons every Monday-Friday.
WHAT TO EXPECT
ISR focuses on skills such as roll, float and Swim Float Swim to teach students how to self-rescue. As lessons are 1:1, they move to the next skill when it's mastered. In a 6-week session, students can expect to work on the following skills.

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR:
Ms. Mary

I discovered ISR in 2018 through my sister, who had taken her children to lessons for years. I noticed right away how much more confident and skilled her kids were in the water compared to mine—they could swim-float-swim and safely reach the edge of lakes and pools.
After taking a Mommy and Me class with my baby and seeing the difference, I realized ISR offered something unique. My sister loved it so much she became an instructor herself, and when I learned there was a need for more instructors, I did a poolside visit. I immediately knew ISR was the career change I was looking for. I’ve always loved working with kids and being in the water—it was a perfect fit.
In 2019, I trained under Master Instructor Michael Patrella and began teaching ISR with his team. After some time with ISR Grand Rapids, I launched ISR West Michigan in 2021. Since then, we’ve reached more than 400 families, helping babies and young children learn to self-rescue. This is the most rewarding career I’ve ever had. Every new swimmer brings me joy, and I truly love being in the water every day.
I’m passionate about keeping kids safe around water and deeply value the families I work with. I strive to uphold ISR’s mission: Not One More Child Drowns.
